Some people bought for investment and now things are tight in the UK they are selling to re coup their capital, some people I know have sold, put the money in the bank and now intend to rent, and others for various reasons/bad experiences, have just had enough. There are many reasons for property being sold but me personally I have been here for 4 years now and love my life here.
Since being here I have seen many good changes, the Marina, roads being surfaced, palm trees planted, but there are problems that need addressing but on the whole I feel that Altinkum is improving.
When and if I ever get fed up with Turkey I will sell up and move but I dont see that happening in the near future.
Everyone has their reason for selling but they can not all be placed in the same category.

It is a buyers market now, not a sellers one. You can buy here cheaper now than four years ago.

Yes you are right it is cheap I bought a resale and it has always been worth far more than what it was to buy new. I bought when the prices were just right and additionally when the banks had 40% on your interest!! there were not many emlaks or builders they have all jumped on the bandwagon since. I wanted somewhere I didnt have fees or any maintainance other than my normal painting or routine repairs. I wanted to be amongst Turkish people to watch their culture and learn from their ways but!!! I have been lucky as I still live in a predominantly turkish commune and even when my neighbours moved out Turkish people moved in so that says something and speaks volumes to me.

There is much to be said for Turkey Im in no rush to sell but if a buyer came along I would sell up and move but not necessarily out of Turkey altogether as there are many undiscovered pretty places to move to. We used to go to Marmaris but found Altinkum purely by accident on an allocation on arrival and since then have never looked back. K

When we first came over and bought the duplex flights were £48.
After we had bought we looked for flights the next year and they had gone up. Typical, we said, as soon as we buy they bung the prices up to £69   We did then buy our 'little apartment' which is near Karen's in the Turkish sector and we love it there. Nice Turkish neighbours. Not near the front but within easy walking distance.
I was once offered 3/4 more than I paid for the apartment but refused
to sell.

:( Many have had to 'ditch the dream' and sell not because they want to but because 'they have to' - sad but true.

Your Right Sharon
Many bought with Loans raised from remorgaging in England
Many bought to Rent out to help pay for it .
Many bought for investment .
Circumstances change and People cant afford to Keep their Holiday Homes not always out of Choice :o

And of Cause theres the People like you that have Lost their Dream of a Place in the Sun through No fault of there own .
I really feel for These People

We just bought as a Holiday Home for us and the Kids ,but then My Daughter Emigrated to USA .and my Son has only been twice .
So sometimes we feel having a Holiday Home that is Empty for most of the Year is a Waste .
Thats when I thnk of Selling myself
But at the Moment its my Retreat and the Place were I can Chill Out even if its just for 8 weeks a Year :D :D Ann
