I've been using uTorrent to download for years without any problem. I think I made a mess of things last week when deleting some crap via the control panel. The next thing I find is that uTorrent has crashed. When I try to re-install it I get the following message >

... A crash dump has been saved as C:\ Documents and Settings\ eSystem\ Application Data\ uTorrent\40911-uTorrent.46b3.dmp

I really don't know how to resolve this as I get that message every time. I can only think that I need to access it and then, presumably, delete it before I can re-install.

HELP. I'm using Tixati at the moment but it's taking forever to download anything.

Lyn, the dump file is a file that is waiting to be sent to report the problem and should have no baring on the matter, what you will need to do is to completely uninstall uTorrent then followed by a reinstall, hopefully that will resolve the problem.

Although maybe the first thing to try would be a system restore back to before the problem and see if that also helps.

When I get problems similar to yours I like to use 'RevoUninstaller' on it's highest level for a thorough uninstall.

Hi Phil, thanks for that.

I've uninstalled uTorrent via add/remove in the control panel and when I do a search nothing is found so it must be gone off the system, but I still get the above message every time and I've tried several times with no success. I installed RevoUninstaller but uTorrent doesn't come up on the screen there either.

I also did a system restore last week but still no luck.

Not happy as I liked uTorrent, it's easy to use and quick. Is there an alternative out there that is similar to uTorrent ?

With Revo you can also chose to use the 'Run hunter mode'

Basically it will just put a icon on the desktop but remains visible even when you open say Explorer/My Computer, then go to the uTorrent folder and find the .exe file (mine is located at C:\Program Files\uTorrent), once you have found the exe file, drag and drop the Revo icon on the desktop onto the exe file, hopefully that will then start the removal process for you. Don't forget you may have to turn on the option to show extensions.

Maybe even try installing a older version to see if that helps, possibly even installing and un-installing but without opening it to try and get rid of the bad information in the registry which is causing you the problems. If you need a older version, try:
