A chronicle of Sharon and Eric's new life in Bulgaria.

We went to this festival which is held every year for 3 days, we went on the Saturday and it was attended by thousands of people. There were stalls, rides, wrestling, dozens of food tents and bars, live music, folk dancing and choirs. We had a great day and left around 6pm but next year we want to camp for the night. As we were leaving the atmosphere was amazing and the live singers had started in the bars, the choirs and traditional dancing were on a stage near the monestery and 73 villages were represented over the 3 days. The tents with the Gypsy music were the buisiest and you could tell that it was going to be a great night ahead. Some of the camping tents that had been errected were quite impressive and all had huge camp fires ready to light later, I didn't want to leave.

Apart from all that was going on, the location was stunning and the monestery is a lovely serene place to visit. It is all set in the foot hills of the Sakar Mountain.

Here are some pictures.

And if it's a monestery, he must be the monk.
