I wasn't mocking Vietnam Brian. What I meant was that Turkey was foreign enough for me but at least it's partly westernised and only 4 hours from the UK. But Vietnam is something else entirely. I think you are a very brave guy so good luck to you. I hope things work out.

Hi Brian,
are the visa requirements for entering and living in Vietnam easier than in Turkey or is it similar to Turkey and Thailand..90 days and a daytrip to Kos/ Malaysia etc?

Moira,

You apply for a visa before hand and you are giving a letter of authority which you hand to visa control when you arrive. Takes about 10 mins to process. You can get a 3 month multi entry this way and then can renew monthly for a total of 3 times thru any travel agents. Or a lot of them go to shinookville( not spelt correctly) in Cambodia and go to vietnamese embassy and get a 6 month visa which takes about 15 mins to process..... :)

Thanks for the info Brian, it sounds as if the Visa requirements are much of a muchness with those in Thailand. If you intend doing the Sihanoukville trip to renew your Visa I take it you're going to live on the south west coast, close enough to the Cambodian Border? What's it like there?

It's one the countries on my "got to visit" list so I would love to hear about it.

Regards,

Moira

Point taken but...I hope you don't end up having to press the "just refreshing this post" button too often.
